"April's Tulips" was designed by London-based artist Louisa Taylor for Slowdown Studio. Louisa is a printed textiles designer and illustrator inspired by flowers, leaves, and still life. Tulips are her favourite, gifted to her every April at peak bloom, and what she loves most is how they hold their beauty even as the stems droop and bend. That feeling inspired this piece: full, generous blooms against a deep burgundy ground, with stems curled and relaxed below. Read our interview with Lou here.

Louisa Taylor is a creative designer and illustrator based in London, UK. Currently working as a printed textiles designer, specialising in kidswear design. She has always loved trying new crafts, and through creating her own art prints and freelancing for a variety of clients, she has tried as many mediums, colour palettes and styles as she can. She’s always inspired by leaves, flowers and still life, and tries to capture movement within her compositions with long flowing stems and shadows.

Our fine art prints are a giclée prints, crafted on 300gsm 100% cotton archival fine art paper with a subtle texture and matte finish. Made in the USA with certified archival stability, it's designed to preserve the colour, detail, and character of the original artwork.

Frame Details

Frames are made to order by our print studio in the USA, using FSC certified timber sourced from responsibly managed forests. Available in oak, walnut, black oak, or white metal, and finished with real glass for true clarity and a luxurious feel. We recommend our professional framing service so your print arrives as framed art, ready to hang, with every edge sitting perfectly flush.

Prints are made to order and shipped directly from our print studio in the US to wherever you are in the world (3-8 business days). They will arrive in a separate shipment from other items in your order, even if added to the same cart.

About the Artist

Louisa Taylor is a creative designer and illustrator based in London, UK. She’s inspired by leaves, flowers and still life, and tries to capture movement within her compositions with long flowing stems and shadows.

What inspired your artwork for this print?

Tulips are my favourite flower and I’m lucky enough to receive them for my birthday each year – as they are in peak bloom during April. I love their elegant long stems and how they still look beautiful when they start to droop.

How does where you live influence your work?

I’ve noticed since living in London that I’m surrounded by a lot of creative people, which inspires me to be creative. I see people painting in the park or taking photos around the streets and it inspires me to do the same. I use the photos and videos I’ve taken on my phone for references in most of my work.

What's your favorite way to slow down?

Painting! Although I love the freedom and flexibility of digital art, it’s so relaxing to pick up a paintbrush and work on a new piece. The hours fly by and I’m always inspired to bring painted textures back into my digital work.
