The Maribou Throw was designed by Jake Hollings, an artist based in Newcastle, UK who is known for his analogue-first approach to image making - from screen printing to risograph or old photocopiers, and the unpredictable textures they leave behind.

This design came from one of Jake's daily warm-up collage sessions: loose, unplanned, and made with as little overthinking as possible. He loved the composition and the colours of the paper he chose, so he scanned the shapes, added some digital colour, and it became this piece. An abstract arrangement of angular forms in olive green, mustard yellow, dusty blue, blush pink, and black - with hand-drawn details that give it an organic, tactile energy. Every Slowdown Studio throw starts as an original artwork. We collaborate with independent artists around the world to translate their creativity into woven form. The Maribou Throw is jacquard woven in the USA from cotton with at least 25% recycled cotton: lightweight, textured, and built to last. Use it as a couch blanket, a bed blanket, a wall art tapestry, or wherever you need a little colour or personality.
About the Artist

Jake is a multifaceted designer and illustrator based in the UK, with an emphasis on analogue image making and print production. His projects are often centred around music, visual identity, pattern, textile design & self published works on paper. Stylistically, Jake’s images stem from experimentation in his studio; utilising collected textures, misprints, drawings and collages. His Visual language is driven by a love of printmaking, with a particular focus on risograph and silkscreen.

Returns

Returns must be made within 30 days of purchase. This will be at your own shipping expense, unless the product is faulty. Returns must be in their original, packaged condition and arrive back to us undamaged. Email us at orders@slowdownstudio.pro to initiate a return.
