The Dresden Throw was designed by Niki Dionne, a Dallas-based illustrator and fiber artist whose work explores the perceived self versus the presenting self of women of colour, working across fiber, pastels, and digital tools. Her practice is spontaneous and self-taught, shaped by the Dallas art scene and driven by a deep focus on representing the diverse experiences of women of color.
The Dresden Throw carries that sensibility into a warm, unhurried domestic scene with a figure, plants, and interior life rendered with the kind of attention that makes the everyday feel worth pausing for.
Every Slowdown Studio throw starts as an original artwork. We collaborate with independent artists around the world to translate their creativity into woven form. The Dresden Throw is jacquard woven in the USA from cotton with at least 25% recycled cotton: lightweight, textured, and built to last. Use it as a couch blanket, a bed blanket, a wall art tapestry, or wherever you need a little colour or personality.

About the Artist
Nikki Dionne, a Texas-based illustrator and fiber artist, crafts work that dissects the “perceived self” versus the “presenting self” of women of color, shaping identity through various mediums like fiber, pastels, and digital tools. Embracing a spontaneous creative process, she draws inspiration from self-perception, often captured in unfiltered selfies, and emphasizes the diverse experiences of Black women in her art. Dionne’s style, honed through practice and recognizable by its unique strokes, thrives in a light-filled studio space, driven by the energy of the Dallas art scene and her journey of self-taught exploration and artistic affirmation.

Returns
Returns must be made within 30 days of purchase. This will be at your own shipping expense, unless the product is faulty. Returns must be in their original, packaged condition and arrive back to us undamaged. Email us at orders@slowdownstudio.pro to initiate a return.
